Victor Company of Japan Ltd. (JVC), Matsushita, Hitachi, and Samsung have been licensed by Arthur D. Little Enterprises (ADLE) to manufacture VCRs with Commercial Advance[TM] (also known as Commercial-Free[TM]), the patented technology that enables VCRs to automatically skip commercials in recorded television programs.
The announcement comes soon after Thomson Consumer Electronics made RCA and ProScan VCRs featuring the technology available to North American consumers.
The eight brands now or soon to be available with the technology are: RCA, ProScan, G.E., JVC, Panasonic, Quasar, Hitachi, and Samsung. The new licensees will introduce the ...
