Jul. 5--Irma and Francis Kress got their toaster back this week.

The two-slice Toastmaster the Kresses received as a wedding present 55 years ago had recently stopped popping up the bread.

So, the Monona couple took the toaster over to Kiefer's Shaver & Appliance on Monona Drive, its first visit to a repair shop.

And after $16 worth of cleaning and a bit of oil for its miniature timer, the toaster works fine, repair shop owner Wayne Kiefer said Monday. And by Tuesday afternoon the Kresses had already used the toaster twice.

"That is pretty much typical of the people I deal with," Kiefer said as the Kresses were leaving.
