Open house at Bay Area oil-timers.

If you like to go old-house snooping, May is your month. Four decorator showcase houses are ready to tour in different Bay Area locations. Three were built in the late 1800s and one is from 1916. Each has many rooms updated by various northern California designers.

Hillsborough. Newhall Manor, an 1890s Tudor mansion, is open April 29 through May 20. It's accessible only by shuttle bus from a parking area in San Mateo at 2000 Alameda de las Pulgas (at 20th Avenue) near State Highway 92. The bus leaves at 15-minute intervals from 9:15 to 3:15 daily and 4:45 to 7:30 Wednesday evenings. Admission is $8 (no children under 8 admitted). Proceeds benefit Coyote Point Museum.
