Development & prospects of fertilizer industry in Indonesia: Fertilizer plants and their production capacities

The inorganic fertilizer industry in Indonesia emerged in 1963 with the operation of the first fertilizer plant in the country, PT Pupuk Sriwijaya (PUSRI), which is located in Palembang, South Sumatera. When it started operation, PT PUSRI had a production capacity of 100,000 tons of urea per year. Boosted by the Government's efforts to maintain self sufficiency in food, the domestic fertilizer industry has enjoyed a steady growth.
