Increase in Demand of Sulfuric Acid for Chemical Fertilizer Production Rules out any Possibility for a Big Price Drop in the Second Half of the Year

Since the second half of last year, sulfuric acid has been in short supply and the marketing situation is the best in history. The output of sulfuric acid this year is expected to be 15 million tons. A total of 4.254 million tons has been produced in months from January to June, a rise of 21.6% over the same period last year. The repeated price rise of pyrite caused by limitations in resources and transportation has brought about price rise of sulfuric acid. The contract price is 520700 yuan/t, and the negotiated price is 620800 yuan/t. The retail price in some areas has reached around 1 000 yuan/t, the highest in more than forty years.
