Comedian George Carlin has been making fun of religion for three decades. The lapsed Irish Catholic believes religion manipulates the yearning of people to believe in something bigger than themselves. With regards to Vatican, he thinks it is mired in political troublemaking and deal-making and has been involved with international security organizations and drug money. He also casts ridicule on the religious Right's campaign for family values, calling it self-righteous.
