L INDA GRAY, founder of Ebony Singles Over 30 (ESOT), didn't want to play the dating game with the routine, monotonous questions. The pickup lines. The plastic smiles.

So she went online looking for social groups for professional African-American singles. There were none locally that she could find.

``I saw there were groups for African-Americans in Atlanta and Washington, D.C.,'' said Gray, who lives in Western Branch. ``But all the events were there. Who wants to fly to Atlanta for an event? And if you meet someone, then what?''
