COUNTRYSIDE: This is my first time writing to COUNTRYSIDE and I must start by saying that my husband and I love your magazine. Like so many homestead households, the fight is on when a new issue comes in the mail.
We are building a homestead on 45 acres in south central Oklahoma. Right now we have six milking does, three hogs, three rabbits, a pair of geese and are getting ready for chickens and guineas. We have one small and two large garden plots--a little over 6,000 square feet total -- and are planning on breaking out some creek bottom land for asparagus, herbs and other vegetables to sell.
