Not only is cleanliness next to godliness -- and next to impossible -- it's expensive.

It's also space-consuming. Just look at your shelves where a spray, gel, foam and powder to clean every kind of surface in your house rest.

And there are environmental issues, including concerns about propellants in spray cans, the toxicity of chemicals in commercial cleaners and how to dispose of containers.

But for most people, the convenience of having a product ready to go wins out.
