At 2045 last night (16 July) the gas platform SANTA FE MONARCH reported to Great Yarmouth Coastguard Co-ordination Centre that a Bristows Sikorsky S76 helicopter under contract to Shell UK had ditched close to the platform some 30 miles north east of Cromer, Norfolk in the LEMAN field. There were 11 people on board the helicopter; 2 crew and 9 passengers. The weather was good.
An immediate search and rescue operation was launched, involving a RNLI lifeboat, RAF helicopter and 10 vessels, including 5 offshore standby craft. ...
