What's in a Reynolds Number? Water velocity does matter.

Factors such as fluid viscosity; velocity; density; heat-transfer coefficients, boundary layers, etc., are terms that the fluid-dynamics engineer uses when designing a heat exchanger for manufacture but aren't often heard in the real world of hydronic radiant heating system design and installation. Boiler, pump, pipe and valve manufacturers have to figure out how all these things relate to their creations to produce efficient, functional products.
