Virginia Tech grad hurt in Afghanistan crash

(The Collegiate Times) (U-WIRE) BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Imagine seeing a helicopter crash on television and then learning two days later that a family member was in the crash.

This became a reality for Steve Edwards when his son, Matt Edwards, telephoned from Afghanistan on Wednesday morning to inform him that he was on board a CH-47 Chinook that crashed Monday.

Matt Edwards, a 2000 Virginia Tech graduate, arrived in Afghanistan about a week and half ago as part of his service with the 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army.
