CHICAGO. - December 4, 2003 - Alacritude, LLC -- publisher of eLibrary (www.elibrary.com) and Encyclopedia.com (www.encyclopedia.com) - announced today that it is included in the EContent 100 list of "companies that matter most in the digital content industry" for 2003. EContent magazine named Alacritude as a leader in the "Fee-Based Info Services" category in its third annual industry review.
Alacritude was founded in August, 2002, by Patrick Spain, co-founder and former chairman and CEO of Hoover's, Inc., with the backing of a group of Chicago investors. Alacritude purchased eLibrary and Encylopedia.com from Tucows, Inc.
"Alacritude, under Patrick Spain's forward-thinking leadership, undoubtedly reflects the evolution of the information services category," Michelle Manafy, EContent's editor, said. "In addition to what Alacritude has achieved in 2003, we are excited to learn about the company's future plans to improve the process of finding, organizing and delivering answers by combining Web sources with proprietary databases and we think that moves like these may change the very definition of search."
EContent magazine will also profile Alacritude in its upcoming January 2004 issue.
Patrick Spain, Alacritude Chairman and CEO, said, "We are honored to be a part of this prestigious list so early in our company's history. We feel the recognition validates our mission to serve a growing need by individuals for research services that are positioned between free search engines like Google and expensive high-end enterprise services such as LexisNexis and Factiva. Being included in the EContent 100 as well as being profiled in the upcoming January issue validates our plans to launch a new Research Engine in early 2004 that combines tools for searching the Web and proprietary databases of millions of articles."
About Alacritude Alacritude, LLC is a Chicago-based company dedicated to providing individual online researchers access to enterprise-quality research tools -- including access to millions of articles and images from proprietary databases and tools to locate, organize and deliver answers in convenient and useful ways.
