CHICAGO— JULY 14, 2004 — HighBeam™ Research, LLC (www.highbeam.com) announced today that it has launched HighBeam Reference Research, which allows individual researchers to locate, organize and deliver answers from the Columbia Encyclopedia, as well as more than 25 other publications.

HighBeam Research operates an online research engine for individuals that fills the gap between free search engines and high-end information services.

HighBeam Reference Research provides users with free access to the more than 57,000 articles of the Columbia Encyclopedia as well as subscriber access to articles from other, more specialized encyclopedias, dictionaries, almanacs, a thesaurus and other reference works. HighBeam Research Members can organize, save, share and publish the information using the product's unique and powerful tools. These include saving articles in online folders, sending them to others via e-mail and importing them directly into Microsoft Office applications.
