CHICAGO – October 22, 2007 – HighBeam™ Research, Inc. (highbeam.com) announced today that its CEO Patrick Spain will speak at the first Future of Business Media Conference to be held at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York, October 30.
The conference is produced by ContentNext Media, a company founded by journalist Rafat Ali, and will include a session titled “The Disruptors” on which Spain will be a panelist. The panel will explore how freely information now flows to more people in more ways and whether this new accessibility threatens traditional business models.
As co-founder and former chair and CEO of Hoover’s, Spain was among the first to recognize the value of online information services. Sharing his insights as a pioneer and current entrepreneur of sites with disruptive effects, Spain will discuss HighBeam’s recently unveiled news site newser (newser.com), a joint effort with Vanity Fair media columnist Michael Wolff. Joining Spain on the panel will be David Jackson, CEO of SeekingAlpha; Scott Moore, SVP of news and information at Yahoo!; and Kathy Yates, CEO of AllBusiness.com. The session begins at 4:35 p.m. EDT.
