CHICAGO— October 18, 2004 — HighBeam™ Research, LLC (www.highbeam.com) announced today the launch of advertising on its HighBeam Research Engine located at www.highbeam.com. Advertising programs offered by HighBeam Research provide advertisers with highly customizable options to target an audience of business professionals and members of the education community.
Concurrent to the launch of advertising, more than one million individual researchers have registered as HighBeam Research Basic Members since the Research Engine's launch in January, 2004. These Basic Members who register for free, the HighBeam Research Full Members who pay a monthly or annual subscription and the millions of regular visitors all comprise an affluent, well-educated demographic of millions of unique individuals.
HighBeam Research ranks in the top 300 worldwide sites, ranked by size of audience, according to comScore Media Metrix, which measures Internet reach by the same measures used in print and television advertising.
The company's advertising team will help advertisers custom-build a variety of high-impact programs to match ads with topics included in the HighBeam Research Library archive of 33 million premium articles. Advertisers can be an exclusive advertiser at the point where a researcher finds answers, matching their message with the researcher's interests. In addition, advertisements can be placed in email alerts that HighBeam Research Members receive about new items that meet their interests.

HighBeam Research opened a new office in New York City as a base for its advertising sales team. HighBeam Research Vice President of Advertising Joseph McWilliams runs the midtown office, which is located at 708 Third Avenue. The company's headquarters are in Chicago and it also has an office in Philadelphia suburb Wayne, Pennsylvania, for operations and technical staff.
