When they mix, it's a mess - but brush chippers and stump cutters proved invaluable during cleanup at the Atlanta Motor Speedway this summer following a tornado spawned by the remnants of Tropical Storm Cindy.
When tree care service workers arrived at the Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, Ga., a few days after this past Fourth of July, nearly all of them would have described the downed trees and debris littering the racetrack by saying, "It looks like a tornado came through here."
It just so happens that in this rare instance, their statement would not have been an exaggeration.
On the evening of July 6, an F2 tornado with winds of 150 mph whipped through the Atlanta Motor Speedway causing severe damage to several of its buildings and to hundreds of large trees on the grounds. The half-mile-wide tornado, which was spawned by the remnants of Tropical Storm Cindy, snapped and uprooted trees, flagpoles and lampposts. …
