"They doused me with pepper spray, dragged me into the bushes and tried to rip my tongue out with pliers."

These were the chilling words of Mashudu Mundzelele after he narrowly escaped a ritual murder in Limpopo.

Provincial police spokesperson Captain Motlafela Mojapelo confirmed that the province has been rocked by a spate of ritual murders - with 100 cases reported since 1994.

Mundzelele (35) was on his way from Thohoyandou to his home village of Tshifudi when he met his assailants.

"I was hitchhiking and it was just after 4pm on a Monday when a white Corolla stopped on Junction Malavuwe. There were four men in the Corolla and an old woman in the passenger seat. …
