Working to ease consumer concerns about doing business over the Internet, the U.S. Better Business Bureau (BBB) and two leading European business organizations are developing a "trustmark" program to provide international standards for Internet transactions. The project is being undertaken by the online division of the BBB (www.bbbonline.org), as well as the Federation of European Direct Marketing (FEDMA) (www.fedma.org) and Eurochambres (www.eurochambres.be), an association of European chambers of commerce.

The program aims to reduce consumers' confusion over conflicting standards and the proliferation of trustmarks by using a single, internationally recognizable trustmark. …
