Allegheny County to Give Away H1N1 Vaccinations for Free
The United States will have enough H1N1 swine flu vaccine this season to provide a shot to anyone who wants one, federal health officials announced Thursday.
Congress has voted to make the vaccine free, though some private practices or pharmacies might charge an administrative fee.
"It looks like we'll have 250 million doses of the vaccine," said Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. "That is enough vaccine to immunize every American who wants to be immunized."
About 8 million doses will be available in the first week of October, followed by 40 million in mid-October, and 10 to 20 million every week after that, Sebelius said.
"And we ask that providers strongly consider not charging for distribution fees," Sebelius said. …
