Our view: Rep. Farley's effort to prevent repeat of Tucson tragedy just makes sense

Asking the Arizona Legislature to impose any kind of firearm restrictions may be a futile exercise, but Tucson Democratic Rep. Steve Farley is nevertheless willing to try.

We're with Farley on this one. So are the parents and fiancee of Gabe Zimmerman. An aide to U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, Zimmerman was killed in the Jan. 8 shooting rampage that left five others dead and 13 wounded, including Giffords. Even former Vice President Dick Cheney has said that he may support it, too.

Farley has introduced a bill that would outlaw extended-capacity ammunition magazines in Arizona. …
