I was in college studying art, thinking that was what I was going to do. But I loved "painting" my roommates' faces. Everyone used to say I should be a makeup artist. I kept thinking no, no, I'm going to get a degree, I'm going to teach. I never, ever thought in a million years that this is what I would end up calling a career.

It wasn't until after school when it kind of found me. I was doing someone's face at a makeup counter and a woman grabbed my hands and said "You are a makeup artist." It was before the Bobbi Brown craze, before makeup artistry was in the mainstream. I just never thought that was the path I would take. …
