Washington, D.C. and its vicinities. It is "the paper" for political leaders. The Washington Post is famous for investigating and uncovering the truth behind the Watergate break-in in 1971, which brought about the resignation of President Richard Nixon in 1974. It is well known for its political reporting coverage, keeping open bureaus in politcally important foreign cities, which a lot of other newspapers have ceased doing.
